John Andrew “Andy” Travers Education: Travers holds an MBA from the University of Missouri – Columbia. While at Mizzou, Travers also worked as a Graduate Assistant responsible for the Summer Welcome and Parents’ Weekend programs, involving hundreds of students and dozens of student and faculty organizations. His undergraduate degree, a BS in Business Marketing, was earned from Central Missouri State University. He was an active college student as president of his fraternity and a member of varsity tennis and club soccer teams. While working at US Foods, Travers undertook independent study and received his Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Certificate (LEED Certification). Experience: Most recently, Travers was the General Manager for Roanoke Valley Wine Company. Travers was the project manager for the RVWC solar array. Travers was also the project manager for moving the company to a cloud-based platform, helping to drive the long-term goal of more data-based decision making. Travers worked at US Foods first as a Division Director of Operations, directly responsible for fleet operations and safety programs. Later, Travers was promoted to a Regional Director of Ethics and Compliance, where he worked with over a dozen facilities developing best practices and implementing ethics, compliance and sustainability programs. Prior to US Foods, Travers was Director of Operations for Orvis. At Orvis, he was responsible for world-wide distribution and service operations. While managing a large workforce, he also negotiated a variety of service and carrier contracts. Travers also worked closely with United Kingdom counterparts, as they moved the Orvis UK operation into a modern facility with centralized inventory management. Travers began his professional career at Polo Ralph Lauren, where he started in retail operations in its Factory Outlet Division. Travers worked with the company management team to apply some of the most stringent Polo merchandising standards to the emerging Factory Outlet Division. He was later promoted to an inventory planner, over the Boys & Haberdashery areas for the entire Factory Outlet chain. Personal: Andy is married to his wife, Anne. Anne is a teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students with Roanoke City Public Schools. Andy and Anne have two children, Alec and Lucy. Travers is an active member of Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church. He enjoys trying new things and taking on new hobbies including: sailing, krav-maga, and sculpture. In his spare time, he enjoys a round of disk golf, golf, playing cards, a good bike ride (road or mountain) and long dinners with friends and family at their home in Roanoke.
