Dr. Amenkhienan joined Radford University as an assistant professor in the accounting program in the College of Business and Economics in 1985. He had previously taught at the University of Benin in Nigeria and at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He had also taught at the University of Mississippi while he was in the doctoral program. He was promoted to associate professor in 1987 and to the rank of professor in1995. From 1992 to 1994, he served as interim chair of the Department of Accounting. Following a number of reorganizations in the College of Business and Economics, he was chair of the Department of Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems, and latterly, the Department of Accounting, Finance and Business Law from 1996 to 2006. Over the years, he has served on several University and College committees, in addition to Department activities. Recognitions include Outstanding MBA Faculty Award, College of Business and Economics Outstanding Faculty Award, and the African-American Faculty and Staff Association Distinguished Service Award. He was appointed External Examiner for Ph.D. thesis at Lincoln University, Lincoln, New Zealand. His teaching and research activities and interest are in cost management and international accounting. He is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and he serves on the editorial boards of Strategic Finance and Management Accounting Quarterly, and the ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria) Journal of Accounting and Finance . He is a graduate of the Patterson School of Accountancy at Ole Miss (The University of Mississippi) where he earned the Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD degrees. He and his wife, Charlotte, have three grown children – two daughters and a son, one grandson and three granddaughters.
